Product Review: Living Proof Prime Style Extender

Where has Living proof prime been my whole life?! My hair tends to get a little greasy on the second day - just around the sides. By the third day, I look like a greasy rat. This product made my hair look great the next day and the third. The third day wasn't any day, oh no. The third day was the second day of camping with no shower. My hair still looked good. This can make my hair look great after camping in the humidity, heat, and torrential rain, then you need to get this. I won't go back after this. After drying and styling, my hair feels so light and bouncy. This stuff is amazing. If you're prone to grease in the hair, this is worth the $20. Trust me.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Review

For a while now, I have been wanting to try Not Your Mother's Beach Babe. I finally got around to getting it about a week ago. I was so eager to try it, and, I have to say, it didn't disappoint.

It can be applied onto wet, damp, or dry hair. I sprayed it on my hair after I had towel-dried my hair. When you apply it, it sprays out as a mist rather than something from an aerosol can. The thickness of your hair will dictate how much you spray. I have to spray a good amount because my hair is thick.

Once you spray it on, you can use your hands to scrunch up the hair or twirl/twist it to get the texture you want. My hair has a natural wave to it, so I'm not sure how this will work on straight hair. I do know that no matter what, it will give your hair extra body.

After I sprayed it on, I allowed my hair to air dry. You can use a blow dryer with a diffuser if you want. Throughout the drying process, I would occasionally scrunch and twist my hair. It does give you a nice smell to your hair, and it's not an over-powering smell. Your hair will probably have a little crunch to it after it has dried.

Overall, I love this product, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I bought mine from Ulta for $5.99.

Update
I just tried the Beach Babe on dry hair. I brushed my hair thoroughly and then sprayed on the Beach Babe. Instant waves. I kid you not. If you were wondering if it works on dry hair, it does. I think it works better on dry hair than towel-dried hair.

Getting Soft Hair

My hair tends toward the frizzy side. It's thick, so it can also feel rough. In college, I was introduced to Silk Protein Silk Therapy. I loved it. I've been thinking about trying the argan oil, but many of them, especially the one I want (Josie Maran), are pricey. That said, I thought I would try out the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment. I didn't go looking for it. I've been wanting something to make my hair soft, but I didn't want to spend the money on the above products. I'm all for finding something that gets the same results without the steep price tag.

The Moroccan Sleek treatment is very affordable. Mine was less than $5. What's great about it is that you can use it in the shower during the conditioning process, on damp hair as a leave-in, or on dry hair, just like the expensive lines. I used mine on my damp hair post shower. Then, I dried and straightened my hair. Here's the result:

Bad lighting as this was a spur-of-the-moment photo at night. This is how my hair looked at the end of the day of using the oil treatment. I love it. My hair is still soft, and it's much softer than when I only straighten. I'm constantly running my hand through my hair as I can actually run my hand through without getting caught in a tangle.

Overall, I'm loving this. It's affordable, and it gets amazing results.

Week's Wrap-Up

I finished up the current read: The Lady in the Tower. It's phenomenal. If you have any interest in the Tudor period, you should read it. It's very well documented, proves/debunks myths about Anne Boleyn, and provides new insights. It's amazing. Next read: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

Remember when I needed some help with my hair? After trying Pantene Smooth to Frizzy line, I'm a believer! My hair never frizzes! Now, I live in the South (a.k.a. humidity central), and we had a lot of rain and snow this week. No problems with the hair! I wake up, brush the hair, and go! Exactly what I wanted. Here's a trick: in the shower during conditioning, use a plastic pick comb or plastic shower brush to brush hair while the conditioner is in. Set. Rinse. I still have my waves but no frizz. Happiness!!

And of course, Glee's episode after the Super Bowl. Amazing.
