Eyeshadow Tricks

Sometimes figuring out how to use the many colors with eyeshadow can be confusing. Here are some guides!

Solo
Urban Decay $17 in Midnight Cowboy

Step 1 - For a soft effect, use a sheer neutral (like above) from lid to bone. For a smoky eye, use one shade (like a gray) by blending it on the lid and along the lower lash line.
Step 2 - Add water to create a liner. Use an angled brush, dampen, and drag through color. Then, trace along upper lashes. Want a retro look? Continue it and create a "wing" on the outside.

Duo
Too Faced $17 in Totally Toasted

Step 1 -  Use the lighter color as the base. Apply all over lid, inner corner, and along bottom lashes.
Step 2 - Apply the darker shade into the crease and top lash line. Blend with a contour brush; use small circular motions. This gives it a medium tone. Or don't blend together to create a different look.
Note - The above steps work the same no matter the color combo! Nice, huh?

Trio
Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Trio $22.50 in Blushing Nude

Step 1 - Apply lightest shade all over eye (from bone to lid line).
Step 2 - Use the medium shade in the crease; use a back-and-forth motion.
Step 3 - Smudge the darkest shade along the lash line. Don't be afraid to use in on the bottom lashes! For the bottom, the best way is to pull the lid down a bit and apply on top of lash line. It won't get in your eye.

Quad
Lancome Color Design $42 in Cool Lavande

Step 1 - Do the trio process from above.
Step 2 - Add the accent shade to the lid, brow bone, or lower lashes. Try it on each part separately to see which works best for you!

Note: All of the products can be found at Sephora!
