Librarian at Work

Librarian at Work
I love being a librarian. After years and years of waiting, volunteering, and working at jobs I was over-qualified to do (and who hasn't been in that situation?), I finally made it! Thank you, God! It was worth the wait, I think. I learned more about myself and learned what truly matters most. My attire for this position is different and yet the same as some previous jobs. So, I realized I need some new clothes for it. I can now be freer with what I choose and more relaxed. My first professional job was as a high school teacher right out of college, so I had to dress to make myself look older. Now, I can wear what I like to work, which is always a nice, neat, and sophisticated look. That is what I naturally gravitate toward, even when I'm not going to work. What does a librarian wear? At least, what does this librarian wear? Well, let me break it down for you.

I'm a reference librarian primarily, so I'm typically sitting a lot. I'm also under an air vent, which causes me to get chilly at work. I'll have a nice shirt and slacks paired with dress shoes; I prefer wedges as they provide a lot of support. Plus, they just look cute, especially for the Fall. I do love dressing up and wearing make-up to work. So many people don't, but I just feel more pulled together when I do.

As a huge Kate Spade fan, it's not uncommon to see me wearing some jewelry from the brand. I gravitate mostly toward watches and earrings, and Kate Spade earrings tend to be affordable. At least for a designer brand. The handbags from the line are amazing. They are sturdy and of great quality. I carry a lot of books and notebooks with me (I never know what mood I'm in), so I need a bag with space.

You may already know of my love for all things from the Flower Beauty line of makeup. It's amazing! High quality (like Bobbi Brown quality) at great prices. I little bit of lipstick, some blush, and I'm set. That's on a day when I have to rush to work. On slower mornings, I do the whole shebang: foundation, corrector, brightening powder, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara in addition to the above.

Yes, I did include reading glasses. But the computer screen resolution at the reference desk is terrible, and when I change it, it always gets changed back. So, reading glasses are needed.

Flower Cosmetics Review...again!

My husband started his first deployment last week, so I have been missing due to adjusting to life without him around. Not fun.

As a way to feel the void, I went on a makeup buying spree. I'm in love with Flower by Drew Barrymore. I bought a lip butter and just adore it. I've been coveting some eyeshadow, and I decided to get some. I'm really big into eye makeup; I love playing up my eyes because they are my best facial feature.

I chose the Foxy Browns palette. I first start with the pink and cover my entire lid from brow to lash line. Then, I layer the other colors over it, blending them as I add. I've never done this before, but I have to admit, the layering effect works wonders! I would show you a picture of my eyes, but my husband has the camera.

The last step was adding a cream shadow. I was hesitant to do this. Shadows tend to crease on my lids, so I didn't think a cream would be ideal. Turns out, if you add a face primer to your lids, coat with normal eyeshadow, and then add the lid cream, it works!

The Flower Color Play Creme Eyeshadow I chose is Mum's the Word. It can be either a strong or soft pink, depending on what you do with it. I love this look with the layers. It's soft, natural, and boy does it bring out the blue in my eyes. It really is perfect.

These are great products that you should really try.

New Cosmetics Line: Flower

While browsing Wal-Mart for a face mask, I stumbled upon a new line of cosmetics: Flower by Drew Barrymore. I was intrigued, so I took a closer look at the products. What first drew my interest was the fact that the products are never tested on animals. I've been looking for cruelty-free makeup, and this is now at the top of my list. I like Almay, but when they sell their products in China, the Chinese government tests all of their products on animals. So, not 100% cruelty-free.

Flower, it turns out, is only sold in select Wal-Mart stores. The one I visited was a Super Wal-Mart, and my tiny town only has a small Wal-Mart, so I have to go about 40 minutes for these products. I'm not too put out as the city has several good stores I can shopped while looking for my makeup.

I have been wanting a new lipstick. I have a great gloss, but I wanted a lipstick. I chose a lip butter from Flower. I'm terrible at picking out lipstick color, but I actually got it right this time! There are several beautiful shades to choose, and several types of lip products: stick, gloss, butter, tint, and liner. The butter is so smooth, and it lasts a long time! My shade is LB4 The Princess and the Peony.

I'm kinda sad I don't need more products. I can tell you that I'll be shopping this line from now on. You can shop at Wal-Mart.com for your products if there isn't a location close to you that sells Flower. So far, I'm a happy girl with Flower!
